Intern for a Day matches undergraduate UMD students with professionals in their field of interest for a job-shadowing experience. Students have access to many hosts - 150+ hosts for virtual informational interviews and in-person job shadowing! This semester, hosts are offering either full day/half day in-person job shadowing opportunities OR 1-hour virtual informational interviewing opportunities. Hosted by the University Career Center. To participate in Intern for a Day as a UMD STUDENT:
UMD undergraduate students interested in participating in Intern for a Day this fall 2025 must complete the IFAD mandatory student orientation either ASYNCHRONOUSLY or IN-PERSON by October 4, 2026.
Overview of Application
- Create an Intern for a Day (IFAD) student profile, complete the orientation session, and submit your application
- IFAD Coordinators will begin the matching process after student applications are submitted
- Student & host will be notified about their matching status via email
- Student will reach out to the host to schedule the experience & provide an introduction.
- Student completes the IFAD experience with host match by the end of the semester
