To participate in Intern for a Day as a UMD STUDENT:

Mandatory Orientation 

In-Person Orientation Options: Take place in the University Career Center (3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing)

• Thurs, Feb 12 from 12:30-1:30 pm
• Wed, Feb 18 from 4-5 pm
• Starting Feb 9, Access the Asynchronous IFAD Orientation: TBA

UMD undergraduate students who are interested in participating in Intern for a Day this fall 2025 are required to complete the IFAD mandatory student orientation either ASYNCHRONOUSLY or IN-PERSON: 

• Students who complete the orientation will receive an IFAD application via the IFAD student portal.
• Intern for a Day applications will be sent to you on or around Monday, February 23 if you complete the mandatory orientation requirement by 11:59pm on Sunday, February 22.
• Intern for a Day applications are due by Sunday, March 1 @ 11:59pm. We will not be able to accept late applications because we will begin matching applicants with a host on Monday, March 2.

Overview of Application 

1. Create an Intern for a Day (IFAD) student profile, complete the orientation session, and submit your application 
2. IFAD Coordinators will begin the matching process after student applications are submitted
3. Student & host will be notified about their matching status via email
4. Student will reach out to the host to schedule the experience & provide an introduction.
5. Student complete the IFAD experience with host match by the end of the semester
